Hello! Have you decided to read-along with me as I (re)read Wuthering Heights? Today, March 20, 2025, we begin our read-along. What does that mean? Nothing fancy. Only, you are welcome to follow my suggested reading schedule (here) and follow-along as I discuss the novel each week.
I began writing summary posts last week and I’ve completed Week One. As this is my first read-along, the format may change, but for now, I’m reading the text and pulling out details which interest me and may (in my opinion) require a bit of context (if this is your first-time reading the novel). Each post includes the following statement:
In these essays I’ll briefly discuss topics I believe require a closer look…
Please do bring up anything and everything you wish to discuss.
Essays will vary in length and breadth depending on the week’s assignment.
The Comments section is open to all subscribers; share your thoughts.
My summaries serve only as a jumping off point…your comments make us into a Community!
I honestly mean every word of this—and do sincerely hope you feel comfortable enough to engage in conversation each week in the Comments.
Just a quick note about me…
I studied to be a secondary level English teacher. I hold state teacher’s certification and earned my M.Ed.—but before I could secure a full-time position teaching in our public school system, my husband and I started our family; I home educated our son.
I have fond memories of my mid-1990s student teaching year—introducing students to, Of Mice and Men, and creating lessons to navigate Dante’s Inferno. I love literature and reading is my happy place. Grammar, not so much. I am liberal with ellipses, the em dash, italics, semi-colons and I consistently overuse commas.
Forgive me.
Look for the Week One summary in your inbox on Sunday (March 23)—I’m pretty certain Sunday is one of the days on which all successful Substack ‘influencers’ warn against publishing.
The posts are for you to read whenever you wish, to gain additional insight into the reading assignment—read them (or, don’t)—all nine summaries will remain on my website, under Read With Me.
Thank you for joining me as I ramble through Wuthering Heights. ♡1
I am also a chronic over-user of the unicode heart symbol.
